A persistent copy of Cisco Router configuration file is called as «startup-config» file. The «startup-config» file is kept in NVRAM and the contents of the «startup-config» file are retained after a reboot. To save the changes of «running-config» file to «startup-config», run the following IOS command.

The «running-config» can also be saved in a TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server if you have a TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server in your network. To save «running-config» file to a TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server, run the following IOS command.

Remember, «startup-config» is a persistent copy of configuration file, which is kept normally in NVRAM.

Startup-config

Конфигурация устройства хранится в двух системных файлах:

• startup-config — файл в энергонезависимом ОЗУ (NVRAM), содержащий все команды, которые будут использоваться устройством после запуска или перезагрузки. Содержимое NVRAM не теряется при выключении питания устройства.
• running-config — файл в ОЗУ, отражающий текущую конфигурацию. Изменения текущей конфигурации незамедлительно влияют на работу устройства Cisco. ОЗУ — энергозависимая память. После отключения питания или перезагрузки устройства ОЗУ теряет все свое содержимое.

Как показано на рисунке выше, можно использовать команду привилегированного режима EXEC show running-config для просмотра файла текущей конфигурации. Для просмотра файла загрузочной конфигурации используйте команду привилегированного режима EXEC show startup-config.

Однако при отключении питания или перезапуске устройства все не сохраненные изменения конфигурации будут потеряны. Чтобы сохранить изменения текущей конфигурации в файле загрузочной конфигурации, используйте команду привилегированного режима EXEC copy running-config startup-config.
