Steam VR Bluetooth Fix for Windows 10 (might work on Windows 7 as well) for the VIVE.
1) Go into device manager on your OS and make sure all Bluetooth Devices are all removed. If it’s using Windows for Bluetooth it’s not going to work. Some motherboards may need the bluetooth interface disabled in the BIOS settings.
2) Start Steam VR software.
3) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select settings.
4) Click on install Bluetooth driver. Finish the installation.
5) Go to device manager and your Bluetooth Devices should only show
«BCM20703 Bluetooth 4.1 USB Device»
6) Reboot your PC
7) Start Steam VR software
8) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select settings. Click on «Enable Bluetooth communication» and «Put Base Station in Standby mode when VR is not in use.»
9) Pull out power from base stations and then re-connect power.
10) Click on SteamVR drop down menu and select devices «Reboot Vive headset»
You can either try to test right away or do another reboot just to get the OS clean.
Now your base stations and everything should shutdown when VR is not in use. They should start up once the Steam VR software starts. You may get some messages for things not working when starting Steam VR because it takes a few moments for the base stations to either shutdown or start back up.
Note: When the base stations are up they will show green and orange LEDs on them. When they go to sleep it will should show just one green light and no longer be able to hear them.
Should be good to go. This frustraited me for a long time but it’s working for me now.
I’ve been searching for a couple months for the right fix and this is what I figured out.

Ребят, купил новые базовые станции Vive 2.0, раньше пользовался первой версией этих же станций. На первой версии была кнопка переключающая каналы базовой станции, на второй версии их нет. И вот я подключил эти станции и работает у меня только одна базовая станция, точнее работают обе, но в стимвр работает только одна, т.к. они обе подключены к первому каналу и работает только одна из них. Посмотрел в интернете, что чтобы управлять каналами базовых станций нужно зайти в меня стимвр в устройства, а дальше в базовые станции. И вот захожу я туда, и вижу надпись Bluetooth недоступен. Перехожу в настройки блютуз в этом же разделе, и у меня вылезает табличка Bluetooth недоступен и крестик. В интернете никто не говорит о этой проблеме конкретно с базовыми станциями. Ребят, если у кого то было такое, помогите пжлст. Все драйверы блютуз установил

Такая же фигня. Пробовал через настройки винды, блютуз находит станции но при подключении требует пин код. Где его взять — вопрос

Смотри, если у тебя базоыве станции стимвр 2.0, то на задней панели есть маленькая дырочка. Если засунуть в эту дырочку зубочистку, и нажать ан маленькую кнопочку, то ты поменяешь канал станции вручную. Надеюсь помог)

I have purchased an «ASUS USB-BT500» Bluetooth 5.0 USB adapter
I’ve installed the drivers and such and the dongle works.
However, in SteamVR when I open Devices — Bluetooth settings, the window that opens says «Bluetooth not available». This issue seems to be present on many Linux systems according to google results, I use Windows 10 however.
Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this? I would really want to use the power management feature for my lighthouses. Is it the dongle that is unsupported? Something else?
Does your Bluetooth come up in SteamVR? What dongle are you using?

Thank you for clarification, this makes much more sense now. I’m using Pimax 5K headset. Seems like that’s the issue. Do you know of any such third party software?

There is another option which is to use some Wireless Remote Control Sockets. Since the firmware has not been updated for some years, the only use of the BT connection is to turn the bases on and off.

Ok, so it looks like my lighthouses are running some ancient 1.1.6277248 firmware, therefore I can’t use stuff like https://github.com/nouser2013/lighthouse-v2-manager
from my windows to control them.
I can’t update my firmware because I do not own an Index or Vive Pro headset.
I cant USB update either. I can enter the firmware mode as described here but it does not prompt for any update https://www.vive.com/us/support/vive/category_howto/updating-the-base-stations-via-cable-connection.html

Yeah, even better if Steam would fix this incompatibility. The hardware is definitely there, I’m using it altogether and it communicates. Just a software limitation. And an ambiguous error that does not clarify the actual issue.

I cannot get my VR Controllers connected to Steam VR. When I click on «Devices» —> «Bluetoothsettings», all I get is a red cross and «bluetooth is not available». The headset works fine, but it is connected via USB and HDMI, so the problem is obviously bluetooth.
But bluetooth is available and active on my PC. I also updated my bluetooth drivers. Steam VR is updated. Has anyone had that problem before and knows how I can fix that?

Althought the thread is old, I wanted to contribute my findings, as I have stumpled upon this thread searching for a solution for this problem:
The issue is caused by the runtime engine! SteamVR should be using the Windows Mixed Reality openxr runtime, otherwise the controllers won’t be working.
Click on SteamVR settings -> Developer and have a look at «Current OpenXR Runtime». This must be set to «Windows Mixed Reality» instead of «SteamVR».
Click within the SteamVR settings on «Startup / Shutdown» and then on «Manage Add-ons». Here I had disabled all entries, which in my case were: Virtual Desktop Streamer (Quest), Pico, Gamepad Support.
The root of the problem was that I have tried out the Pico 4 headset and used it together with Virtual Desktop to play SteamVR-Games.
