About The Game
Lara Croft goes in search of the legendary Russian city of Kitezh, repeatedly mentioned in the works of numerous chroniclers. Lara’s father devoted most of his life to searching for this “Russian Atlantis” in which the source of eternal life is hidden, but the archaeological community has always ridiculed him, considering Kitezh to be just a beautiful fairy tale. Lara Croft decides to finish her father’s work and prove to the whole world that Kitezh is real. The game would be incomplete without negative characters, which are the mysterious organization “Trinity”. The villains have their own reasons for finding the city of Kitezh, and Lara is a completely unnecessary obstacle in their path.

Tomb raider on linux
Anyone have Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Linux and can tell me if it supports realtime ray tracing or not? I’m not finding anything about it and I have a RTX card under Linux. Really feeling it was a waste of money at this point. This game with ray tracing would help justify it though.

So my 2080 Ti was a $1200 waste of money, 1 game supports RTX. Should of just stayed with my 1080 Ti’s tho SLI sucks under Linux too. From my understand Q2 RTX used more RTX features than any production game out, as NVidia wanted to show case it. Hence the 30fps@1440p ultrawide on a 2080 Ti for a 25 year old game. SotTR doesn’t implement as much of the RTX features and Vulkan does have realtime ray tracing functionality, so seems more like a lazy port to me. I guess I wont be buying this one either way.
RTX (Tensor Cores and Deep learning Super Samplers) is hardware. Vulkan is a 3D API (Application Programming Interface), just like Direct3D in DirectX is a 3D API, the game uses the 3D API that then translates to the Drivers that have direct control over the hardware, so your last point is mute. I mean it’s not like the Windows version of the game has direct hardware access to do ray tracing, it’s using Direct3D’s APIs to achieve that and being that ray tracing is in Vulkan and they had to port the 3D API from Direct3D to Vulkan to begin with, it’s lazy that they didn’t port the realtime lighting portion.
Your second point, no one said that they’ll have more games under Linux. I was making a statement and it stands; sucks to have 1 game that works using realtime lighting.
Not sure why you’re being abrasive here, not wanting to argue anything with you. Your second and third point though are way off base. I’m just personally feeling like the whole ray tracing BS is mostly marketing at this point with no real substance, at least in the Linux world, and any hardware that is OS dependent isn’t going to last for long. Much like the Oculus Rift being Windows only, looking to move that and get a Valve Index as it is OS independent.
