How to Turn Bluetooth On or Off in Windows 11
This post shows students and new users how to turn Bluetooth on or off in Windows 11 to connect or disconnect from nearby devices.
By now, you probably know a thing or two about Bluetooth. If not, here’s a brief overview; Bluetooth is a wireless technology that allows your computers, smartphone, and mobile devices to connect to nearby Bluetooth-enabled devices.
Bluetooth connections allow you to stream music, send data, and easily communicate with nearby devices. There are multiple ways to turn on or off Bluetooth on your computers. Some computers come with a dedicated Bluetooth button on top of the keyboard area and on either side of the computer.
The physical Bluetooth switch on your computer lets you quickly turn off or on your Bluetooth device. There’s also another way to turn off Bluetooth from Windows 11, and we’ll show you how to do that.
Disabling and enabling Bluetooth in Windows 11 hasn’t changed much. Similar to other versions of Windows, the process is still the same.
To get started with turning on and off Bluetooth connections in Windows 11, follow the steps below:
How to turn off or on Bluetooth on Laptop
As mentioned above, there are multiple ways to turn on or off Bluetooth on Windows 11. One way is using your computer’s Bluetooth button.
If your laptop has a physical Bluetooth button, you can quickly turn it on or off the Bluetooth device simply by toggling the button to the On or Off position or tapping it to disable or enable it.
How to turn on or off Bluetooth on Windows 11
If your computer does not have a Bluetooth switch or button, you can turn off or on Bluetooth in Windows 11. Windows 11 shows your app’s icons on the taskbar in the notification area.
You can see icons for volume, network, Bluetooth, and others. The taskbar should look similar to the one below:
If you don’t see the Bluetooth signal icon on the taskbar, simply press the Windows key + A on your keyboard to show Windows Quick settings.
The Quick Action settings pane will appear. On the settings, click the Bluetooth option on the list of settings to open the Bluetooth pairing settings.
When the Bluetooth connection shows up, click the Disconnect to disconnect from the Bluetooth pairing.
To connect to Bluetooth, use the same icon on the above taskbar. Then when a list of nearby Bluetooth shows up, select the one you want to pair to.
How to turn Bluetooth on or off in Windows 11
In some situations, you may want to disable Bluetooth in Windows completely, not just disconnect. You can do that via the Windows System settings pane.
Windows 11 has a centralized location for the majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from the System Settings pane.
To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + I shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings, as shown in the image below:
In the System setting pane, select Bluetooth & devices. From there, you can quickly disable and enable Bluetooth by toggling the button to the On or Off position.
Another way to enable or enable Bluetooth devices in Windows 11 is from the Device Manager settings.
To get to Device Manager, click Start and search “Device Manager.” Select from the relevant result.
In Device Manager, find the Bluetooth adapter on the list of devices attached to your Windows computer. Then right-click the Bluetooth device and either turn it on or off.
That will turn off the Bluetooth in Windows 11. You can now exit the settings pane, and you’re done.

Enable it, reboot, and you should be able to see the Bluetooth option once you log in to the computer.
