Introduction

This page lists some of the Bluetooth USB Adapters that work on Ubuntu. For help with Bluetooth in Ubuntu, see the community documentation on Setting up Bluetooth. You may also want to consider purchasing a free software compatible device. Unlike non-free driver dependent hardware support exists out of the box and will continue working going forward. Many other Bluetooth dongles will not. Free software compatible adapters are available from stores such as ThinkPenguin.com.

To get information about you BlueTooth device use commands:

Works out of the box in Ubuntu 12.04.

gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

There is a patch available in bluez but it is easier to just edit the files. The first edit stops ubuntu automatically loading the module and the second loads the module with the correct parameter. (Thank you Marcel Holtmann).

Bluetake

Works out-of-the-box in Ubuntu v10.04 ~ 11.04 but stopped working reliably in 11.10, frequent kernel panics and other general not good stuff, [Bug: 901770]

Might need same fix as Belkin : add «blacklist hci_usb» to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, and add «hci_usb reset=1» to /etc/modules

  USB-адаптер для Bluetooth 4.0+

  Хотел бы узнать, есть ли в наших магазинах USB-адаптеры для bluetooth стандарта 4.0+, без проблем работающие (в основном, для наушников) в линуксе (ubuntu, arch) ?

  В природе, как сказано по этой ссылке, такие устройства есть, и их даже можно купить на Али по приемлемым ценам. Вероятно, даже закажу себе одно такое.

  Однако срок доставки 25/05/2020 — это как-то очень долго.

  Ищите лучше. Ко мне из магазина UGreen на Алиекспресс это пришло за 2 недели. Раз Bluetooth адаптер на контроллере CSR, то будеи работать в Linux.

  взял bt4-свисток от hama, никогда никаких проблем не имел

  и судя по тому, как оно определяется линуксом — это как раз копеечный китайский ноунэйм

  Раз Bluetooth адаптер на контроллере CSR

  не-е-е. Позавчера купил в ближайшем ДНСе DEXP AT-BT401, дык, оно, хоть и увиделось в линуксе, но не заработало, на трех разных компах ни в линуксе (5.5.13-arch2-1), ни в винде (Win8, Win10). В Win8 даже дрова поставил с сайта, не помогло. Теряет коннект после секунды-двух воспроизведения звука. Вернул обратно в магазин.

  Поэтому и спросил здесь, чтобы не бегать кругами лишний раз.

  У меня который из UGreen, зарвботал в Ubuntu 18.04 без установки дополнительного драйвера.Это потому, что драйвер для контроллера CSR в ядре.

  DEXP это не китайская, а российская торговая марка магазина DNS. То есть,продукция из Китая конечно, но неизвестно что.

  У меня как раз такой, покупал за 130руб., а в ДНС подобные были по 600руб. Работает без фирмварей.

  Ну, вот «подобный» у меня не заработал. Может, экземпляр некачественный попался, может, firmware кривой.

  Ну вот тот и бери, они лучшие. Дата там указана это предел если до которого не доставят то вернут деньги.

  Да, спасибо, возьму, просто за то, что написали про поддержку линукса. Но хотелось побыстрей здесь что-нибудь купить.

  оно и есть. Правда я его брал раза в 1.5 дешевле

  Information about the Product:

  I have tested this Bluetooth USB Adapter with the following OS:

  It seems that this Bluetooth Adapter is working fine with my Ubuntu v6.10!

  I have managed to send files from: Ubuntu v6.10 PC -> Nokia Mobile Phone.

  I have managed to send files from: Nokia Mobile Phone -> Ubuntu v6.10 PC.

  Conclusion:

  I suggest that you purchase this product because it works on both Windows OS & Ubuntu OS.

  What Drivers to Install:

  The instructions below, were created after I had my Ubuntu v6.10 cleanly installed!

  So, there shouldn’t be any differences between my Ubuntu and yours.

  (e.g. in packages that I have installed, but you are missing. )

  In order to put it to work, perform the following steps:

  1. Make sure package named «bluez-utils» is installed in your Ubuntu.

  2. Install package named «gnome-bluetooth» in your Ubuntu.

  3. From the Menu, select «Applications\Accessories\Bluetooth File Sharing«.

  A Bluetooth icon should showup on your Top Panel.

  4. Edit the file «/etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf» & change the following:

  a. The line «security user;» with «security auto;«.

  b. The line passkey «1234»; with passkey «5555»;

  The number «5555» denotes your PIN used in both Your PC & Mobile phone for the Initiation Process to start. That assigned number must be the same in both Devices, for your connection to be successful.

  5. On your Terminal window, type «/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart«.

  We are restarting the Bluetooth services so that changes we make in the file name «hcid.conf» are applied!

  Connection should be now achieved, as long as you activate your Mobile Phone’s Bluetooth Services.

  To send files from one Device to the Other, perform the following:

  Case A: From Mobile Phone -> Ubuntu v6.10 PC

  1. Select your preferred Picture.

  2. Select «Choices«.

  3. Select «Send«.

  4. Select «Via Bluetooth«.

  5. After «Searching for Available Devices» has been completed, choose «Select Device«.

  6. Your «Connection» should start & «Sending File» should show on your Mobile Phone’s screen.

  7. On the Ubuntu side, a window will pop up asking you if you want to «Accept a file from Phone«. Click on the button named «OK».

  a. The menu choices on your Mobile Phone vary, depending on the Phone Model you own. I connected through a Nokia Mobile Phone. b. Make sure your Mobile Phone is NOT far away from the Bluetooth or your «Sending File» will be unsuccessful.

  Case B: From Ubuntu v6.10 PC -> Mobile Phone

  1. Select your Preferred Picture.

  2. Right-click on the Picture’s Icon & select «Send to. «.

  3. On the window that opens, wait until under the «Send to:» section, your Mobile Phone is Detected.

  4. When your Mobile Phone is finally Detected, click on the button named «Send«.

  5. A window will pop up saying «Sending File» with a progress bar.

  6. Check your Mobile Phone to see whether the Picture has successfully arrived.

  Sometimes, before you perform above Step 4, on your Mobile Phone’s side you need to Re-activate/Reset your Bluetooth Connection.
