Genius’ New Ultrathin Bluetooth Keyboard Works With All the Major Tablets

What do you look for in a keyboard made for tablets? Portability? Wireless capabilities? Cross-platform support? Genius has checked all three of those boxes with its new LuxePad 9100, which the company bills as an «Ultra-thin Bluetooth Keyboard for Three-in-one system.» And if that’s not enough, the keyboard’s cover also doubles as a stand for your slate.

The $69.99 LuxePad 9100 supports Android and Windows tablets as well as the iPad. Genius’ previous Bluetooth keyboard offerings each focused on a particular operating system. Universal Bluetooth keyboards are far from new, but they still fairly uncommon.

The LuxePad 9100 keyboard is roughly two-thirds of an inch thick and runs on AAA batteries. The keys themselves use scissor switch technology, which should help to keep the LuxePad 9100 clean and debris-free on the road, especially when paired with the included leather carrying case.

A dedicated «Connect» button quickly links the LuxePad 9100 with the device it’s paired with, while other keys let you fiddle with volume and media controls or jump right to your tablet’s home screen.

While you have to admire the LuxePad 9100’s versatility, would you prefer one of these — which you can pull out and use only as needed — or a more dedicated, integrated and semi-permanent solution like Apple’s Smart Cover or the Microsoft Surface tablet’s Touch Cover?
