Installation link

Two well known approaches are used to install unetbootin-git from AUR. pacman is what you’re looking for if you’re familiar with command-line interface and know the concept of how packages are built. If not, yay is a popular alternative to install packages without the hassle of reviewing PKGBUILD and build packages with makepkg afterwards.

Using Pacman link

sudo pacman -S --needed git && git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/unetbootin-git.git && cd unetbootin-git && makepkg -sicontent_copy

1. Install git if it’s not already installed.
2. clone the package’s git repository from source.
3. cd into the directory.
4. Use makepkg to build the package. Also, it will automatically be installed with pacman if built successfully.

Using Yay link

yay -S unetbootin-gitcontent_copy

Updating link

Updating AUR packages is almost the same as installing them. Simply pull it from upstream then re-build it. Nonetheless, it is still a good practice to upgrade your whole system first with sudo pacman -Syu before updating any packages to avoid dependency issues, since Arch is a rolling-release Linux distribution.

Using Pacman link

git pull && makepkg -sicontent_copy

1. pull from the package’s git repository.
2. Build the package with makepkg . Also, it will automatically be updated with pacman if built successfully.

Using Yay link

Uninstallation link

Uninstalling packages is the most uncomplicated of these three,just choose whether to keep the dependencies that no longer required by other packages and the configuration files used by the package.

Using Pacman link

sudo pacman -R unetbootin-gitcontent_copy

sudo pacman -Rs unetbootin-gitcontent_copy

sudo pacman -Rns unetbootin-gitcontent_copy

Using Yay link

yay -R unetbootin-gitcontent_copy

yay -Rs unetbootin-gitcontent_copy

Arch Linux User Repository

Tried doing the usual find /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ -iname «*.part» -exec rm <> \; and pacman-key —refresh-keys to no avail.

multibootusb-git can be a nice alternative to unetbootin

Just FYI, the Qt5 fork of Unetbootin has finally been merged into the Git repository. So at some point you’ll have to update your dependencies.

For those of you who want to avoid Qt4, I made this package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/unetbootin-qt5-git/

The last commit on that fork is from 2017, but unfortunately the Unetbootin guys still haven’t merged it: https://github.com/unetbootin/unetbootin/pull/137

If you get something like this:

note: if unetbootin starts with a blank window, the solution is directly run /usr/bin/unetbootin.elf 🙂

/usr/bin/pacman: unrecognized option ‘—color never’

Resolved by commenting out the ‘Color’ line in /etc/pacman.conf

I also had the same experience as the previous commenter (setconf is not installed as a dependency, even though it is listed)

UNetbootin предоставляет вам возможность установки желаемого дистрибутива Linux на USB-накопителе и без подключения Интернету. Вы можете установить предпочтительный дистрибутив Linux, даже при отсутствии его в списке программы.

С помощью этой программы вы сможете создавать загрузочные USB-накопители с различными системными утилитами, такими как: Parted Magic, FreeBSD, FreeDOS, Gentoo, Kaspersky Rescue Disk, F-Secure Rescue CD и др. Поддерживается и создание мультизагрузочного USB-диска или образа ISO для загрузки дистрибутива Linux или различных утилит.

Утилита также поддерживает установку нужного дистрибутива в режиме «Frugal install» прямо на вашем жестком диске. После выбора нужного дистрибутива Linux вам просто нужно будет выбрать USB-диск или раздел жесткого диска, на который вы хотите установить систему и запустить процесс.

Установка

Установка в Arch Linux

Перед установкой обновляем систему:

Утилита скачивается из Aur (у меня в домашнем каталоге создан подкаталог aur ):

Создан подкаталог unetbootin с установочным файлом PKGBUILD . Переходим в подкаталог:

Для сборки программы выполняем следующую команду:

Смотрим список файлов подкаталога aur :

Пакет собран. Устанавливаем его:

oleg@mobile:~/aur:$ sudo pacman -U unetbootin-702-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

Установка в Ubuntu

В текущих версиях Ubuntu утилита отсутствует. Для её установки надо выполнить следующее:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gezakovacs/ppa $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install unetbootin

Использование

Утилита Unetbootin очень проста в использовании. Подключаем к порту USB-накопитель и запускаем утилиту:

oleg@mobile~:$ sudo unetbootin

На скриншоте показаны 2 варианта использования утилиты:

1. выбираем опцию Дистрибутив;
   • выбираем дистрибутив из списка программы и его версию;
   • выбираем носитель;
   • нажимаем кнопку OK.
2. выбор образа;
   • выбираем опцию Образ диска;
   • нажимаем кнопку с тремя точками и находим нужный образ;
   • выбираем носитель;
   • нажимаем кнопку OK.

Второй вариант является более быстрым, так как не надо ничего скачивать.

Заключение

UNetbootin — очень полезный инструмент. С этой утилитой создание собственного загрузочного USB или установка дистрибутива Linux на жесткий диск никогда не станет проблемой.
