I purchased a light ring. It had a remote so I thought this was the item I needed. I downloaded and it come up to purchase 6 months $39. I thought I’d try it. Then I went in to set up and found out it’s a totally useless app for what I had bought (light ring). Within the hour I sent eml to cancel asap. It was a mistake. Well I got the response to screen shoot and send more info. My cc already shows pending purchase amount of $42+. I’m retired and a widow and cannot be paying for something I can not use.
I only now saw the previous review above. Let’s see if my issue will be resolved quickly. I plan to dispute with my cc company. Fool me once…

Useless

Hi downloaded this app because it pops up when I typed in the name of a product I bought. But before you can even set the light bulb up the app tells you to purchase a subscription plan. At the time I still thought the app was legit so I purchased the $70/year plan. Right after the purchase went through I tried setting up the light bulb and it didn’t work at all I would just sit on the final set page. Within that same hour I contacted the app via email and told them not to finish the process of my payment because the app doesn’t actually operate the light bulb. I let them know I want the subscription cancelled. It has been almost a week and the subscription has now fully processed out of my bank account. I can’t even delete the app or account with them yet because I gotta make sure they refund me. I got one response via email the first night saying to provide screenshots and further explain the issue. Well I have and no response back so now I’m leaving a review this APP is garbage. Now refund my $70 and cancel my subscription.

1 star useless app wanting your money for an easy return

leaving a 1 star because all of the setups require a subscription was looking for an alternative for my remote that has broke and i ordered a new one in the mean time just needed something to control my lights (cant turn them off I.E light switch) it’s a smart light that can only be controlled through remotes or direct bluetooth connection, anyways off topic i tried to setup and was met with a prompt to pay for subscriptions? useless just pay for a remote that can control it don’t pay a monthly subscription for something you can buy and only pay one time they want 99hard earned dollars and in return you get access to the most basic use of this app and what many of us downloaded it for ONLY 1 part of the setup didn’t require a subscription it was for main companies mine is from IKEA which surprisingly isn’t even an option inside of the app

Fluval LED WIFI Controller 4+

I’ve been trying for 30 minutes to change my settings on it to deal with an algae bloom. There are so many hurdles you have to get over, such as slow connection times, “invalid IP” errors, “cannot connect”, JUST to log in, and when you finally get logged into the app when you try to select a light it frequently crashes, disconnecting you and restarting the process. I’m using both channels and what should be a simple process becomes a redundant sequence of errors and crashes.

That being said, once you get through the pain of setting up the timer through a subpar app design, the timer works consistently and I’m impressed with the ability to adjust intensity, as well with the sunset feature that dims the lights at a steady rate.

Some things I don’t like is the spin wheel feature to change the time, and the fact that it’s set to 24HR on the spin wheel, but in all the displays it is not. Why the inconsistency?

Also it’s pretty dumb you can’t change the settings without being connected to the device. It would be much more streamlined and would get rid of most of the issues I stated above if you could edit the settings in the app, THEN connect to the controller to apply those settings.

Works until lights start going on in the middle of night. The temporary fix is to connect to the controller and re-save the settings and everything goes back to normal (for a week or two). It feels like a buggy firmware which I don’t have ways to update. Fluval support is going to exchange the unit, maybe newer version (if there is such a thing) will fix the issue. I will add to this review once I have a newer unit to work with. Otherwise I will replace it with a simpler timer and be done with a «smart» features.

I like it

Just set up the WiFi yesterday. I need to tweak my settings, but I like it. Today was an all day rain event, so this morning I set my day light percentage low with the cloud effect. I think the fish and coral look appreciative to the more natural lighting. Tonight I’m setting the daylight percentage back to full for tomorrow as it will be a clear day.
I hope there will be some updates and new things added to the app in the near future. Eg. preset; storm with lightning effect, rainy day etc. Just don’t make the product and forget about it after release. Added bells and whistles equal future sales.

Magic Home Pro 4+

Контроллеры перестали работать через приложение удалённо, без вай фай в телефоне. При добавлении нового контроллера, вылезает сообщение что устройство пытается подключится к серверу с истекшей или поддельной лицензией и могут быть проблемы с безопасностью сети wifi. Если всё же добавить контроллер, он работает только когда телефон тоже подключен к этому wifi, то есть и телефон и контроллере в одной подсети. С мобильного интернета не находит он лайн устройства, пишет не в сети!

I can’t say if it’s the app or the bulbs…my guess is the app, so here you go!

My bulbs worked fine awhile ago. Then they needed to be reset, but I didn’t have time. Today, I upgraded the app and reset two bulbs and connected another for the first time. It worked fine configuring and connected the new one. The other two I could not get to work. One connected, turned green and then went off line. I could not get it back online, so I deleted the device and decided to start over. The app discovers the bulbs and the phone displays the wifi settings. The bulbs also flash or change color, which clearly indicates it’s communicating with the app. But when I try to continue, app consistently says it can’t connect to wifi. I’ll reset, then close the app, reopen it, blah blah blah and they won’t connect. Since I actually have a life and can’t sit here for hours to connect bulbs to my phone, something I’ve managed to live without my whole life, I just turned the lights off and closed the app. Now, when I turned the lights on, both bulbs keep changing colors between a stark, almost blue white and a beige normal light bulb color. The app isn’t open, bulbs never connected, yet it like Vegas in my room! It’s very very &%*¥!=~ annoying! Going to find a couple good old-fashioned incandescent, money wasting glass light bulbs that won’t give me a headache!

Went down hill fast

The light strips worked great for a short time. Then all of the sudden, they would reset themselves in the middle of the night and begin flashing through all colors. This was inconvenient to have to get up and unplug 6-8 sets throughout the house. The first time this happened it was somewhat difficult to reset and reconnect due to having to eventually reset the router in order to get them to connect. This sporadically happened over several months then again last night they all reset, flashing the rainbow throughout the house. Again, I just unplugged them all and began working to reset and reconnect them today. So far, I have reset the router and attempted to reset and reconnect the lights around 7 times with only one of 8 controllers being able to reconnect. I am lost and have went through all the FAQs and tips while wasting many many hours troubleshooting this.

Great app!

I have had two LED bulbs I got for Christmas about five years ago so I already had the Magic home app on my phone. Those bulbs are still working great.

I recently decided to order a set of four new bulbs to replace my family room and bedroom lights. I wanted to have the whole house setup with RGB LED lights and be able to control everything though Siri. I didn’t realize the ones I ordered also worked with the Magic home app which made me very happy.

Today I was able to setup all six bulbs. I have to say I’m very happy with the outcome. I enjoy having set groups for each room. I also love the ability to use shortcuts for Siri. I actually have 3 separate scenes for the family room. One to turn on full brightness, one for low lights when watching movies, and one that uses RGB for parties. I can even set up different patterns for each specific bulb.

I also use the timers function to turn on/off specific bulbs at different times at night when I’m out of town. This gives the appearance of someone being in the house.

Overall I’m very happy with the bulbs and the Magic home app. There are several new features that have been added over time. Plus they have great customer service if someone is having an issue.
