Wifiry: Wi-Fi Signal Strength 4+
I am not an IT person but for years I have complained that the wifi strenght in my office was crap and everyone would pull out their phone, tablet, and laptop and run a speed test and tell me I was an idiot the speed is just fine. I would try to explain well yeah you just signed on but stay a while and you will see for yourself the signal strenghts drops and the speed is slower than 3g. They would laugh and walk away. Then I found this App and finnaly after years the boss and IT fixed my problem because i could show them more than the stupid speed test.

Hi, Tale like this inspires us to work even harder as we can not only help our clients but also can make a huge change in their way of life. We are thankful to you for sharing your experience with us.Thanks again!
Very Useful for Monitoring WiFi
The new version is now loading for me at logon. I have it set to load automatically without fussing. WiFi strength and connection shows in the menu bar. The further information is readily available. Thanks for the update.
Developer Response ,
Hello. Thank you for writing the review. Our goal is to develop functional, simple, and easy-to-use applications. Keep using our app.
Largely Broken
Cannot remember networks—we have 2.4 and 5G and it’s just a mess. Modal windows popping up in front of my setting windows, cannot even finish typing this review without the password windows popping up in the way. If I could post a video, people could see what programming failure is. I’ve given up writing tech support. They kept reassuring me the review window wouldn’t pop up every time I rebooted, but they couldn’t even fix that. I give up, keep my money, I’m deleting this. I don’t need the software fail on my machine.
Developer Response ,
We sincerely apologize for the frustrating experience. This issue has now been identified, we are already working on a fix. We are pushing a quick update which should resolve this. I’ll keep you posted here. Thank you for pointing this out. We’d really appreciate it if you can stay with us on this. For a temporary solution, please untick the first option «Connect to the strongest network» and keep using the app. Until then, I’ll update you as soon as the update with all the fixes is live.

WiFi Signal: Status Monitor 4+
I’ve been using WiFi Signal (as well as its big brother, WiFi Explorer) for years, and always appreciate the insights it provides. From the detailed metrics it displays (far beyond anything the built-in menubar item provides), to the alerts when changing base stations (helping to diagnose network dead spots, or problematic connections), to simply giving insights into signal quality and SNR, this is a wondeful tool to have in your arsenal.
PLUS, the new customizable 2-line status display, and new method of annotating networks to help further clarify your connection («Wait — is this BSSID the access point in the living room, or the one in the kitchen?»), and the version 4.3 update makes this tool even better … although I didn’t previously think that was possible.
If you do anything WiFi on your Mac (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?) you owe it to yourself to download WiFi Signal.
Much more helpful than the stock macOS menu bar WiFi icon
Being able to see exactly which AP I am connected to is invaluable. To get good 5GHz coverage, I have 5 access points distributed throughout my house, connected to my router via Ethernet, with a common SSID. Adrian’s WiFi Explorer app lets me assign a label (aka Annotation) to each AP based on the AP’s BSSID, or MAC address. These labels are remembered and synced to WiFi Signal. So rather than giving me an obscure MAC address, WiFi Signal will tell me I am connected to e.g. “AP3 Back Room”.
It will also give you popup alerts when you roam from AP to AP, which gives you a good idea of your AP coverage.
Great app and fantastic support to boot! Thanks Adrian.
Clear display and easy to use
I use this every day to see if it is my location, lots of users on a channel, or a Comcast delay. Super easy to use. Menu bar app- click once to open; then click again to close. Accurate info about strength of the Wifi signal you are getting in real time, so you can move your desktop and laptop around to get the best signal. Also recommends better channels if you have a lot of neighbors using your channel. Been using it reliably for years. One of my best app purchases.

WiFi Explorer: Scanner 4+
This is by far one of the most useful tools I have used and one of the reasons I even stick with Macs instead of going to Windows.
WiFi explorer has been used for countless projects and it comes in handy for troubleshooting and optimizing. I have used it recently to help install two Google WiFi setups at different houses with different layouts. Being able to see all of the devices as they come online and their signal strength and other stats was really helpful and educational. One observation that I was having is that my laptop at times was not connecting to the closest Google WiFi AP, instead it was holding onto to 2nd floor AP even when the signal strength was 10-15% less. These are the kinds of insights you don’t get often and it was cool to see how that worked.
For work settings it has been useful to find down APs or research which channels to set devices too in a crowded building. WiFi Explorer pays for its self in only a few uses, it is worth every peney and I am happy to see the developer continue to work on it and squash bugs.
Incredible
I’ve been using this utility for years. Anyone who has been profesionally trained on wireless installations knows that it is a practiced science, not an excact science. What works for one enviornment may not work for another. What works at one location in a building may not work 50 feet away in the same building. I use this software as a systems administrator to diagnose wireless performance from my laptop as I walk around the floor in our offices. This utility makes it very quick and easy to identify performance, and see how performance fluctuates as I wander from here to there, identifying deadzones, or areas impacted by high EMI and low SNR. I’d recommend this utility. The author does a good job deploying consistent and regular bugfixes in addition to feature improvements — updating it year after year and keep this program running reliabily as Apple releases their OS X platform changes. This app is great. I’d absolutely recommend it.
Great WiFI tool
I am the “mother-in-law” in our home ( see definition below * ). I live with my son, daughter-in-law, and three grandson’s. Use to have just one wireless Orbi WiFI mesh network for both sections of the house. Daughter-in-law requested a Disney Circle solution so I moved the Orbi mess network to her side of the house on DMZ’d connection off from main router so they are on a separate subnet. On my subnet network off from main router I have my own WiFI access point for my “mother-in-law apartment” side of the house.
Now using my background in networking I setup both wireless systems. I purchased “WiFi Explorer” for iMac so I could see how well I did. Well, I did a good job, however “WiFi Explorer” did a better job showing me the spectrum that was being used by our neighbors, and our house. Using this program I was able to fine tune our homes two wireless subnet’s WiFI systems so they now do a better job of not overlapping the channel’s signals from all WiFI sources.
So “WiFi Explorer” was well worth the money.
* A “mother-in-law apartment” is an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), a separate living space that is either attached to or located on the same grounds as a single-family home. ADUs are also referred to as mother-in-law suites or guesthouses.

WiFi Scanner 4+
